eDItorial SERVICES
Prices are based on the lower end of EFA (Editorial Freelancers Association) rates. One page is equal to about 250 words with a pace of roughly 4-6 pages per hour depending on content complexity.
Developmental Editing
$0.03/word OR $45.00/hour
"Big picture" editing. Focus is on structure, plot, character development, pacing, theme, point of view, etc. Goal is to improve overall storytelling and development of piece.
Hourly rates available for pieces over 2,500 words.
Line & Copy Editing
$0.05/word OR $48.00/hour
These two steps go hand-in-hand.
Line: Focus is on writing style, clarity, and voice. I work with adjusting awkward phrasing, unnecessary repitition, telling vs. showing, and consistency in dialogue.
Copy: Focus is on correcting spelling, grammar, punctuation, and commonly confused words while ensuring consistency with capitalization, numeral format, etc.
Hourly rates available for pieces over 2,500 words.
Proofreading
$0.02/word
The last step (typically after your book has been formatted for publication.) The focus is on making copy as error-free as possible including, but not limited to, typographical errors, layout, and page numbers.
